Spainish Curry Nite!
What is probably the very first Sri Lankan Curry Night was held on the Costa del Sol last Saturday. The event was held at the Mijas Bowls Club and Young Hope, hosted 65 people to an evening of taste bud excitement discovering the delights of Sri Lankan cooking. The evening was complemented by the barbershop singing of the Costa Chordbusters. Between courses Suzie updated the gathering with the latest news from Sister Arul in Trincomalee, who looks after the needs of the children. She stated that because of the uncertainty of the situation in the north of the island due to the broken cease fire food is becoming scarcer. There are an extra 100 children to look after at present due to the war, many travel 6 miles a day to school on an empty stomach.
The event raised over 900 euros for the project. Some of this money will be spent in Galle, furthering the cottage industry projects that Young Hope have supported in the past such as the purchase of sewing machines. Some of the money will also go to provide some musical instruments for the Children in Trincomalee as well as provide the extra food needed during this difficult war.
